Glenburgie グレンバーギ蒸留所
所在地 Forres ( Benromachの東7km、エルギンの西12km)
原料の水は、地元の湧き水で、ヒースの堆積して出来たピートを潜って湧き出てくる水が、ウイスキーに独特の華やかさを添えている。
1829年 William Paulが創業。創業時はキルンフラット蒸留所と呼ばれていた。
1878年 Glenburgie を名乗る。burgieとは、Robert the Bruce の Bruceの派生語。
1930年 幾度かの買収を経て、カナダのHiram Walker & Sons 社の所有となり、ブレンドウイスキーOld Smugglerを発売していた James & George Stodart を子会社化して、グレンバーギを運営させる。
1936年 ハイラム・ウォーカーがグレンバーギ蒸留所とミルトンダフ蒸留所を、バランタインのキーモルトとする。
1958年～1981年 2器のLomond Stillを備えていて、それらによって製造されたモルトウイスキーをGlencraigと呼んだ。
1981年 撤去した2器のローモンド式蒸留器の替わりに、ハイランド伝統の玉ねぎ型蒸留器2器を新設。
1987年 アライド・ライオンズ社がハイラムウォーカーを買収
2004年 蒸留所建物を解体(旧蒸留所の消滅)
2005年 Pernod-Richard 傘下の Chivas Brothersが運営 新蒸留所を建設し、新たに2器の蒸留器を増設し、オリジナル蒸留器と合わせて合計4器となる。
2006年 蒸留器を2器増設、合計6器となる。
2017年 バランタイン名義で、オフィシャルボトル15年を発売

At the very heart of the Highlands, in the north east of Scotland, close to the village of Forres, Glenburgie distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. It is thought to have been established in 1810 by William Paul and was licensed in 1824.
The single malt has been selected by blenders in Scotland for its aromatic qualities and can be found in many a bend.
Hart Brothers have secured a small batch of this rare single malt.
This light coloured malt, sweet and mellow, reveals nutty flavours and flowery notes,
Glenburgie shows traces of peat. Well balanced and slightly sweet this malt has a dry finish.
